One in four adults over the age of 65 falls every year and, of those falls, 20 percent cause serious injuries. While not every fall is preventable, 90 percent of falls happen in the home and many of those can be prevented with home safety modifications, according to the National Council on Aging.
That’s why TruBlue is pleased to announce that the franchise is implementing a system-wide Senior Home Safety Certification program through Age Safe® America. As part of this program, all new franchisees will be required to complete the Age Safe® America Senior Home Safety Specialist™ training and certification. As specialists, TruBlue franchisees will not only be able to perform Senior Home Safety Assessments, but also be able complete the modifications, rather than leaving homeowners to find contractors for each punch-list item.
“With this certification, we are committing to a higher standard of service. We want our franchisees to be educated and certified in senior home safety so they can not only identify potential issues but be able correct those issues. We want seniors and their families to know that TruBlue is dedicated to providing what they are longing for: Trust, Peace of Mind, and a better house service experience for the senior community,” TruBlue President Sean Fitzgerald said. “This is more of a safety issue than just a service – by conducting these Home Safety Assessments and completing the needed work, we can help save lives.”
According to Age Safe® America, the Senior Home Safety Specialist™ course empowers professionals with actionable ways to better help educate clients, older adults and their family members on the serious issues of home safety, fall prevention, fire safety, financial exploitation and personal safety. This comprehensive course offers the only certificate of its kind to individuals within the senior services industry.
“TruBlue provides peace of mind for seniors and their families knowing that their loved ones and their homes are being cared for. Whether it is modifications, handyman services, yardwork, cleaning or just light choirs, families don’t have to worry about their loved ones doing too much or living in an unsafe environment,” Fitzgerald said.
